# Patrice Belval — The Golden Triangle character guide > Patrice Belval in The Golden Triangle by Maurice Leblanc. **Role:** major **Also known as:** Captain Belval, Belval, Armand, Armand Patrice Belval, Armand Belval **First appearance:** 0000-i-coralie ## Snapshot A wounded French captain whose furious hunt for the man he believes ruined Coralie collides with a revelation that rewrites his own bloodline. ## Who they are Belval moves through the mystery as a soldier first and a lover second: he storms Siméon's gatehouse demanding answers, keeps watch on quays and barges, and lets his temper outrun Don Luis's cautions. His devotion to Coralie — the nurse he calls Little Mother — is inseparable from his rage at whoever holds her, and that rage makes him both relentless and reckless. When the porter blurts that Siméon is his father, the ground shifts under him, and the question of who he really is becomes as urgent as finding Coralie. ## Relationships ### [Coralie](https://www.betterreads.dev/discover/the_golden_triangle_se/characters/coralie) _romantic_ Coralie and Patrice are deeply in love, with a passionate and devoted romantic bond that drives much of the plot. ### [Don Luis Perenna](https://www.betterreads.dev/discover/the_golden_triangle_se/characters/don_luis_perenna) _friendship_ Don Luis Perenna (Arsène Lupin) acts as a powerful ally and mentor to Patrice, sharing a loyal and protective friendship. ### [Siméon Diodokis](https://www.betterreads.dev/discover/the_golden_triangle_se/characters/simeon_diodokis) _rivalry_ Patrice and Siméon are bitter enemies, with Siméon scheming against Patrice and Coralie out of greed and malice. ### [Ya-Bon](https://www.betterreads.dev/discover/the_golden_triangle_se/characters/ya_bon) _friendship_ Ya-Bon is Patrice's loyal and devoted servant, sharing a strong bond of trust and camaraderie. ### [M.
