## Who they are

Renford is an overworked junior at Wrykyn, the sort of boy sent scurrying on errands and grudging every concession. When Trevor demands his milk, Renford parries with a triumphant 'There isn't any,' only to be ordered to bring up what little he has. His petty defiance and quick retreat capture the daily friction between seniors and fags, grounding the football politics in ordinary schoolboy comedy.
