# How does The Gods of Pegāna develop the theme of The Search for Meaning?

> The Gods of Pegāna by Lord Dunsany

## Answer

The Gods of Pegāna by Lord Dunsany develops The Search for Meaning across the chapters the companion marks for this theme.

The comet, the prophet Yonath, and the god Hoodrazai all seek to understand the 'wherefore of the making of the gods,' but their quests end in silence, sadness, or the realization that man knows not.

The prophet's fleeting glimpse of Wornath-Mavai and Sish's pursuit reflects the human longing for a lost paradise and the inevitability of time.

The purpose of life and the worlds is questioned, as all existence serves Dorozhand's hidden end.

Hoodrazai's quest for the secret of existence leads to silence and isolation, questioning the value of ultimate knowledge.
