# How does The Gods of Pegāna develop the theme of The Role of Art and Mirth?

> The Gods of Pegāna by Lord Dunsany

## Answer

The Gods of Pegāna by Lord Dunsany develops The Role of Art and Mirth across the chapters the companion marks for this theme.

Gods like Limpang-Tung (god of mirth and music) and Yoharneth-Lahai (god of dreams) create beauty, joy, and illusion to alleviate human sorrow, though they themselves do not fully understand the cosmic scheme.

Limpang-Tung dedicates himself to painting the sky, creating music, and inspiring minstrels to bring joy to the world.

Yoharneth-Lahai's little dreams and fancies bring peace and comfort, contrasting with the mockery of the gods, highlighting the value of art and imagination.

The home gods' small, comforting rituals and the quiet dances of Triboogie's shadows evoke a gentle, artistic mirth in domestic life.
