## Snapshot

A young woman whose brother trades her marriage for his own advancement, Margot is caught between family ambition and her own stubborn, tearful will.

## Who they are

Margot Poins serves in the Queen's household, where her brother, a Gentleman Guard, sees her as a bargaining chip and loudly demands that Katharine arrange her wedding to a man already married. Her sobbing protests and her brother's rage reveal a family using the court as a ladder, and Katharine's refusal to grant the match costs her the boy's loyalty. Margot matters because her plight forces the Queen to choose between affection and principle, and because the girl's future becomes one of the small, human tests by which Katharine's reign will be judged.
