## Snapshot

A polished, drawling Major who presents a cosmopolitan household to Loveday while barely concealing a flash of violent temper beneath his waxed moustache.

## Who they are

Major Druce is a well-turned-out young officer who brings Loveday into his mother's cosmopolitan Portland Place reception, where servants and guests represent a dozen nationalities. He speaks of the missing Mdlle. Cunier with theatrical grief, yet his soft drawl cracks when he vows to put a bullet in the man responsible rather than hand him to the police. His polished exterior and sudden flashes of rage make him both a useful guide and a figure worth watching as Loveday moves through the case.
