She fusses over jam-jar marigolds and neatly folded clothes, hungry for the holiday to feel like a real holiday, and she is the first to befriend the awakened statues with earnest politeness. Her mix of tenderness and quiet stubbornness makes her the emotional center of the trio as the magic begins to complicate their ordinary games.
