## Who they are

Dr. Waters is the medical man summoned when George Harrison is found dead at The Shack, and he arrives already convinced: a reserved man, in excellent spirits, felled by bad fungi. His evidence at the inquest is measured, professional, and just flexible enough — opium, he concedes, would produce similar symptoms — to leave a door ajar he never intends to open. His insistence on accident over design becomes the respectable assumption everyone else must argue against.
