Chapter 2
The Demi-Gods
The chapter introduces the arrival of three angels on a desert hill and their encounter with Patsy Mac Cann and his daughter Mary. The angels are revealed to be demi-gods, and the group takes shelter in a broken house during a storm. Stories are told, including Finaun's tale of Finaun and Caeltia and Art's story of Brien O'Brien. The angels announce their departure, and Patsy Mac Cann disappears, leaving Mary to take charge.

The three angels land on a desert hill and encounter Patsy Mac Cann and his daughter Mary by their campfire. Mary initially hides in fear but returns when her father reassures her.
