## Snapshot

A weathered revivalist and former Oregon hand, he travels with his wife as a partner in the business of saving souls and settling debts.

## Who they are

Soulsby arrives in Tyre as half of a professional revival team, bringing Western ease and a fund of practical talk about land, weather, and human nature. He is the gentler, more companionable half of the partnership, content to let his wife manage the sharper angles of their trade. His calm, worldly optimism gives Theron a glimpse of a life where faith and shrewdness coexist, and quietly widens the young minister's sense of what is possible.
