# Mr. Morris — The D’Arblay Mystery character guide

> Mr. Morris in The D’Arblay Mystery by R. Austin Freeman.

**Role:** supporting

**Also known as:** Morris

**First appearance:** 0003-iv-mr-bendelow

## Snapshot

The Bendelow will's executor, whose disappearance with his wife leaves investigators chasing a trail that has gone deliberately cold.

## Who they are

Mr. Morris is the executrix's husband, a figure who vanishes from his known address just when the American investigator Wilson comes looking for him. His flight, and the fact that probate was quietly completed beforehand, mark him as someone who knew more about Bendelow's affairs than a mere executor should. He matters because his absence is itself a clue, pointing toward the careful machinery behind the will and the cremation.
