## Who they are

He is the keeper of the expedition's founding secret, the tarpaulin map of Trinidad and the story of pirate gold buried under the Sugarloaf. His kindness to a scarred, reserved stranger during a fatal illness earned him the revelation that launched the whole venture. Without his tale and his willingness to act on it, the Alerte would never have sailed.
