## Snapshot

A well-dressed secretary at the Ministry of the Interior who trades in information, favors, and the affections of Madame Danglars.

## Who they are

Lucien Debray is the polished face of Parisian corruption: a government insider who leaks what he knows, profits from what he hears, and keeps his position by never appearing to want anything too obviously. His affair with Madame Danglars gives him access to the baron's financial schemes, and his easy charm makes him welcome in every salon that matters. He is the kind of man through whom fortunes and reputations quietly pass, and Monte Cristo's plans depend on exactly that kind of conduit.
