# Poiccart — The Council of Justice character guide

> Poiccart in The Council of Justice by Edgar Wallace.

**Role:** major

**Also known as:** the merciless Poiccart, a pallid Poiccart

**First appearance:** 0000-i-the-red-hundred

## Snapshot

Stolid, pallid, and merciless, Poiccart is the Four's patient listener — a man whose silences and slow yawns conceal a will that never once bends.

## Who they are

Poiccart sits through Gonsalez's long, drowsy monologues about Peter Sweeney and the 'Rational Faithers,' answering mostly with a yawn or a turned head. He is the counterweight to Leon's restless theorizing: quiet, watchful, and, as his epithet insists, merciless. When the Four need someone to simply wait and then act, it is the pallid Poiccart who is trusted with the waiting.
