# Charles Garret — The Council of Justice character guide

> Charles Garret in The Council of Justice by Edgar Wallace.

**Role:** supporting

**Also known as:** Charles, Charles Garrett, Garrett

**First appearance:** 0000-i-the-red-hundred

## Snapshot

A journalist who presses Falmouth for answers about Jessen and the hole in the floor, Garret keeps asking the questions the official record would rather bury.

## Who they are

Garret moves through the case as a working reporter, chasing the inquest's omissions and the strange reappearance of men who should be dead. Warned off Jessen by Falmouth, he still whistles at what he finds in the Carlby Mansions flat, sensing a Government arrangement too philosophical to explain. His curiosity makes him the reader's proxy, dragging the shadow war between the Four Just Men and the Red Hundred into the open.
