Family and Betrayal

Family relationships are fraught with conflict and treachery, as seen in the Comte d'Origny imprisoning his wife and kidnapping his son, or the Duc de Sarzeau-Vendôme's tyrannical control over his daughter, highlighting domestic cruelty and the abuse of power.

The count betrays his wife by kidnapping their son and attempting to publicly humiliate her.

A stepfather attempts to kill his stepdaughter for financial gain.

The duke's trusted servant Hyacinthe is bribed to betray the family, while the real d'Emboise returns to expose the plot.
