As a supporting figure in The Chinese Parrot, Victor Jordan is not background color—the story leans on what they do once the chapter opens.
Present at the meeting, shows interest in the necklace and supports sending it to the desert.
Victor belongs to the Jordan family orbiting Madden's ranch, and his movements—or lack of them—draw quiet suspicion from the moment trouble surfaces. He is caught between family obligation and the pull of his own uncertain future, a tension that makes him guarded with strangers and evasive under questioning. His ambiguous position in the household keeps the reader watching him closely through the early investigation, unsure whether he is victim, witness, or something else entirely.
