# Sally Jordan — The Chinese Parrot character guide

> Sally Jordan in The Chinese Parrot by Earl Derr Biggers.

**Role:** supporting

**Also known as:** Sally, Miss Sally

**First appearance:** 0004-v-madden-s-ranch

## Snapshot

Madame Jordan's daughter, whose connection to the pearls draws her into the affair and whose trust Chan values enough to guard his dignity for her sake.

## Who they are

Sally Jordan belongs to the world of the pearls — the valuable string at the center of the errand that brings Bob Eden and Charlie Chan to the desert. Chan's loyalty to her is personal and deep; he jokes that he would do almost anything for Miss Sally, though he draws the line at saying 'velly.' She matters because her stake in the pearls gives the investigation its emotional anchor and reminds Chan that the case is not merely professional.
