# Jerry Delaney — The Chinese Parrot character guide

> Jerry Delaney in The Chinese Parrot by Earl Derr Biggers.

**Role:** supporting

**Also known as:** Delaney, Jerry, Mr. Delaney

**First appearance:** 0004-v-madden-s-ranch

## Snapshot

A man with a shadowed history tied to Madden's ranch, whose presence raises uncomfortable questions about the past and who is watching whom.

## Who they are

Jerry Delaney carries the wary bearing of someone who has learned to keep his past to himself, and his connection to the Madden ranch makes him a figure worth watching. He moves through the story's margins with an air of unfinished business, neither fully trusted nor fully explained. He matters because his history with the ranch and its owner adds another layer of suspicion to an already crowded field of secrets.
