# Helen Corning — The Bungalow Mystery character guide

> Helen Corning in The Bungalow Mystery by Carolyn Keene.

**Role:** supporting

**Also known as:** Helen, Helen Corning

**First appearance:** 0000-i-racing-the-storm

## Snapshot

Nancy's loyal friend, quick to boast on her behalf and quicker to volunteer for a ferry ride to a stranger's hotel when Laura asks for company.

## Who they are

Helen is the social glue of the opening chapters: she is the one who tells Laura about the hidden staircase and the Horner inheritance, inflating Nancy's legend while Nancy squirms. Her function is to make Nancy's courage visible from the outside and to keep the promise to visit Laura when Nancy's own curiosity might have gone unspoken. She is brave in the ordinary way — boarding the launch, asking the blunt question, showing up.
