# How does The Blue Bird develop the theme of Selflessness and Generosity?

> The Blue Bird by Maurice Maeterlinck

## Answer

The Blue Bird by Maurice Maeterlinck develops Selflessness and Generosity across the chapters the companion marks for this theme.

The climax reveals that true happiness comes from giving; Tyltyl finds the Blue Bird at home only when he selflessly gives his pet dove to the sick neighbor girl.

The Fairy tests Tyltyl's kindness by asking about his appearance, and the children's willingness to undertake the journey reflects their selfless desire for happiness.
