## Who they are

Water moves through the quest as the counterweight to Fire, all tresses and quiet song, ready to fill the cups of enormous flowers when the children are thirsty. Her gentleness is genuine, but it also makes her passive, flowing wherever she is poured. She matters because she gives the journey its tenderness, and because her calm is the kind of happiness the children keep overlooking.
