**Role:** supporting

**Also known as:** John, debonair Lord John, John Carr, Carr

**First appearance:** 0003-iii-introducing-the-hon-richard-carstares

## Snapshot

A highwayman with a title, a wit as quick as his blade, and a servant who understands him better than anyone alive.

## Who they are

Lord John Carstares robs coaches as 'Sir Anthony Ferndale' with theatrical flair, polishing his nails and adjusting his diamond pin while plotting his next move. Exiled and disgraced, he wears his outlaw identity like a second skin, yet his charm and recklessness mask a deeper wound. His partnership with Jim Salter and his tangled history with his brother Richard drive the novel's central mystery of who he really is and what he is running from.
