One of Drummond's inner circle, quick with a joke and quicker with a revolver, who helps run the Black Gang's private war against Peterson's network.

## Who they are

Jerningham belongs to the tight set of friends who treat the Black Gang as a lark with a serious edge, moving between Piccadilly clubs and covert operations without ever quite dropping the banter. He is loyal to Drummond to the bone, and his ease in dangerous company makes him useful precisely where a more conspicuous man would be noticed. In the early–middle arc he is part of the machinery that keeps the gang one step ahead of both the police and their real enemies.
