## Who they are

Janet is spoken of with a tenderness that sits oddly against the violence surrounding her, a small figure whose safety matters to people who otherwise deal in threats and bombs. Her connection to the Longmoor circle makes her both a vulnerability and a moral test for the men who orbit it. In the early–middle arc she is a reminder that the gang's war is not fought in the abstract, and that the innocent are never far from the blast radius.
