# Delmorlick — The Black Gang character guide

> Delmorlick in The Black Gang by H. C. McNeile.

**Role:** supporting

**Also known as:** Mr. Delmorlick, That firebrand Delmorlick

**First appearance:** 0005-vi-in-which-an-effusion-is-sent-to-the-newspapers

## Snapshot

A lean, grave-eyed firebrand who turns up wherever hungry men gather, preaching revolution with a conviction that unsettles even the men sent to watch him.

## Who they are

Newly arrived and red-hot for anarchy, Delmorlick works a crowd with a pointed finger and a quiet, earnest certainty that England, Scotland, and Ireland are all moving his way. His face lingers in the mind of at least one observer long after the speech is over, which is precisely the danger he represents to men playing a double game. In the early arc he is the human face of the unrest that Peterson's network is quietly funding, and the reason a certain house-party guest cannot quite relax.
