## Who they are

Akut leads a tribe of great apes that flees at the first sight of Sheeta, until Tarzan recalls them and forces a fragile truce between ancient enemies. Under the ape-man's influence, Akut's band becomes companions in the hunt, sharing kills and ranging the savage haunts side by side. Their wary alliance gives Tarzan something he desperately needs on the island: company, purpose, and a bulwark against the gloom of isolation.
