> Abbie Moor in The Autobiography of Calvin Coolidge by Calvin Coolidge.

**Role:** supporting

**Also known as:** Abigail ( Franklin ) Moor, Moor

**First appearance:** 0002-i-scenes-of-my-childhood

## Snapshot

Coolidge's mother, whose early death left a silence in his childhood that echoes through the autobiography's quietest passages.

## Who they are

Abbie Moor belongs to the Plymouth years, part of the family world Coolidge reconstructs through graveyards, farms, and ancestral names. Her loss shapes the emotional undertow of his recollections, though he treats it with characteristic restraint. She matters because she is the absent center of the childhood chapters — the person whose death helps explain the boy's gravity.
