## Who they are

Idmon joins the company at Argos, schooled by Apollo in prophecy yet not of the royal line of Abas, a distinction that sharpens his hunger for a hero's fame. He reads omens for the crew, but the knowledge he carries is double-edged: the birds have told him how he will die, and he sails anyway rather than let his people begrudge him glory. His presence gives the voyage its dread undertow — every fair wind carries a price already named.
