## Who they are

Castor, called Kastor, is the horseman of the pair, trained in Tyndareus' palace alongside Polydeuces and sent forth by Leda with her blessing. His craft is speed and control — the management of animals that outrun men — and it marks him as the subtler half of the famous twins. Together the brothers give the Argo its aristocratic sheen and its assurance that, whatever the voyage demands, one of Leda's sons will have the answer.
