## Snapshot

Howard Van Burnam's wife from Haddam, whose sudden death inside the family mansion turns a quiet marriage into a murder inquiry.

## Who they are

She arrives in the Van Burnam orbit as an outsider bride from Haddam, married to Howard against the family's evident wishes and known to few in New York society. Her death in the empty mansion forces the coroner to weigh Howard's contradictory account of leaving her there alive against the physical evidence of the house itself. Whether victim or pawn, she becomes the still center around which the early testimony, alibis, and suspicions all turn.
