**Role:** supporting

**Also known as:** General Dukhonin, Dukhonin

**First appearance:** 0011-i-background

## Snapshot

General Nikolai Dukhonin, the last commander-in-chief of the Russian Army, stands at the front as the government that appointed him dissolves behind his back.

## Who they are

Dukhonin commands the army from headquarters while Kerensky flees and the Petrograd garrison goes over to the Soviets. His authority rests on a Provisional Government that no longer controls the capital, and the troops he orders may no longer obey. In the revolution's middle arc, he embodies the old military hierarchy's paralysis before a power that has already changed hands in the streets.
