> Bolgani in Tarzan and the Golden Lion by Edgar Rice Burroughs.

**Role:** supporting

**Also known as:** Great Bolgani, the mighty Bolgani

**First appearance:** 0000-i-the-golden-lion

## Snapshot

The great ape people of the forbidden city, whose emperor Tarzan kills and whose fifty warriors then surge up the dais to avenge him.

## Who they are

The Bolgani rule a strange land where ape-men keep Gomangani slaves and a dead lion lies upon a dais, and they regard Tarzan's passage through their country as trespass. When their emperor falls to the ape-man's spear, their growling ranks close in — nine against fifty — until a golden lion's roar breaks the battle. They are the wall between Tarzan and home, and their fury turns a journey into a siege.
