## Snapshot

A little lady of charm and composure, she becomes the object of a famous courtship and the center of a public romance Barnum insists he never engineered.

## Who they are

Lavinia arrives at the Museum as a new attraction, poised and self-possessed, and quickly draws the attention of both Commodore Nutt and Tom Thumb. Her gentle refusal to encourage Nutt without wounding him shows a tact that matches her stage presence. When Tom Thumb declares she was created to be his wife, her story becomes a test of whether private affection can survive being exhibited as public entertainment.
