## Who they are

Rynch Brodie survives alone on a world of water-cats and blue-black shelled swarms, his bare arms and scanty gear each earned by labor or battle he can almost remember. Yet the shadow of a room and a cup keeps overlaying the stream and rocks, and the ache in his skull punishes every attempt to hold it. His fractured certainty about who he is seeds the mystery the hunters are walking toward.
