**Role:** supporting

## Snapshot

A noblewoman already smuggled to safety by the Scarlet Pimpernel's league, she survives as proof that trust in these Englishmen is not misplaced.

## Who they are

Madame de Frontenac belongs to the hunted aristocracy whose rescue the league has already accomplished when the story opens. Her husband cites her safety as the reason Amédé should trust the Englishmen with everything he holds dear — she is the living argument for faith in the mysterious rescuers. Though offstage for much of the early action, her deliverance shapes the moral logic of the rescue missions that follow.
