## Snapshot

A Polish countess whose mad passion for her exiled husband made her a queen of Paris society, admired and watched in equal measure.

## Who they are

Clémentine Laginski enters Paris as the beautiful young wife of Count Adam, whose fortune and ancient Polish name silence the drawing-rooms that once mocked her rash marriage. By 1836 she is one of the reigning queens of the Faubourg, moving among the flower of Parisian society. Her virtue is unimpeachable and her position dazzling, yet the very perfection of her happiness becomes the fragile surface on which the drama of loyalty and friendship will be tested.
