# Marillyn Stevenson — Short Science Fiction character guide

> Marillyn Stevenson in Short Science Fiction by Noel Loomis.

**Role:** supporting

**Also known as:** Marillyn

**First appearance:** 0003-remember-the-4th

## Snapshot

Dale's ailing sister, clear-eyed about her own prognosis and quietly uneasy with the fortune he spends trying to cure her.

## Who they are

Marillyn is the invalid whose care has shaped Dale's life and finances, and she reads her own medical situation more honestly than he does. She urges him to stop chasing newfangled cures and go have fun, but her gentle protests only harden his resolve. Her acceptance of her condition, set against his stubborn refusal, is the emotional knot that drives Dale toward the choices that will define the story.
