# Jeffrey Wadsworth — Short Science Fiction character guide

> Jeffrey Wadsworth in Short Science Fiction by Noel Loomis.

**Role:** supporting

**Also known as:** Wadsworth, Jeffrey

**First appearance:** 0004-the-mischievous-typesetter

## Snapshot

A president who fights wars from a chamber three hundred feet underground, dueling an enemy leader through electronic screens while an aide watches every flick of his fingers.

## Who they are

Jeffrey Wadsworth sits before the Map in the Midwest Chamber, commanding rockets and explosive screens in a war where only the losing president will die. He chose this station deliberately, and Hoshawk watches him flick oxygen valves and fire salvos from Newfoundland to the Bahamas with a mind built for rapier calculation. His ice cream habit and his poised stillness make him both formidable and oddly human as the contest with Forgacs unfolds.
