## Snapshot

A younger son turned pirate-king whose meteoric rise, ruinous love, and hunted exile haunt the blade that bears his name.

## Who they are

Sujah Ali abandoned a minor royal birth to carve an empire from the sea, terrorizing Dutch and Chinese shipping until the British broke his fleet and drove him into jungle hiding. There his infatuation with a village girl unseated his favorite wife, Amina, whose jealousy would prove his undoing. He survives in the tale as a legend attached to a Malay krise — a weapon whose provenance carries the whole arc of ambition, betrayal, and downfall.
