## Who they are

Mr. Tod is the absent owner of a shockingly filthy house among the rocks, littered with rabbit bones, chicken legs, and other things that should have been buried. His long-running feud with Tommy Brock turns his home into contested ground — and his kitchen, with its old brick oven and dirty floor, becomes the unlikely hiding place where Peter and Benjamin discover the kidnapped baby rabbits are still alive. His menace lingers over every whispered plan the rescuers make outside his bolted window.
