## Snapshot

A cottage-dwelling rat whose affable porridge and sudden threats make him the most unsettling host in the wood.

## Who they are

Mr. Piperson offers Pigling Bland a rug to sleep on and porridge in the morning, then warns him not to meddle with anything or he'll come back and skin him. He locks up his cottage, keeps his meal chest accounted for, and treats hospitality as a ledger of favors owed. His genial menace—and the smothered voice Pigling hears from the locked cupboard—turns an ordinary night's lodging into a test of nerve.
