# Lilla McCormack — Short Fiction character guide

> Lilla McCormack in Short Fiction by Catherine Louisa Pirkis.

**Role:** supporting

**Also known as:** Lilla, Miss Lilla, Miss McCormack

**First appearance:** 0001-i

## Snapshot

Captain McCormack's sister, remembered chiefly through the tender hands of poor neighbors who laid out a fair-haired girl in a clean white sheet.

## Who they are

Lilla belongs to a world where the poor show a refinement that higher ranks forget, and where a flower-girl presses fern and geranium into a small thin hand. Her fate is bound up with Caleb, the blind old man who begs for one moment of sight to see the face he has loved and never known. The loyalty and grief surrounding her thread through the story's quieter chapters, measuring what family and class cost the people caught between them.
