A proud Brazilian palm in a glass prison, who spends her whole sap reaching for the roof and teaches a small faded herb to dream of freedom.

## Who they are

Attalea Princeps towers over the greenhouse, magnificent and restless, convinced that the grey sky and cold rain outside must be better than the warm captivity she knows. She grows taller and taller, stripping her own roots and leaves of moisture, while the little herb twines around her trunk and begs to be remembered when she breaks free. Her ambition is both heroic and self-consuming, and the story's early arc turns on whether her faith in the world beyond the glass can survive contact with it.
