## Snapshot

The beautiful, imperious Swedish queen who laughs through grace, boasts of burning her suitors, and makes King Olaf forget the church bells.

## Who they are

Sigrid Storråde arrives at Kungahälla to consider marrying King Olaf, and she sizes up the harbor's herring, salt, oak, and hides with a merchant's delight. At table she talks over the Bishop's prayers and tells how she had two minor kings burnt for daring to woo her, while Olaf sits at her feet and listens. Her bard sings of Brynhild, and Olaf sees in her radiant eyes and black brows a woman who would ride to Valhalla with him or kill him if forsaken.
