A young woman of Italian warmth whose love story unfolds amid old-world loyalties and the pull of new affections.

## Who they are

Nina Pepé moves through a world of Italian households and family expectations, her heart caught between the claims of tradition and the urgings of her own feeling. She is spirited and affectionate, and the tension between what is arranged for her and what she chooses for herself shapes her course. Her story gives the collection its Continental counterpoint to the English and Irish courtships around it.
