## Snapshot

A strong-willed Cornish girl whose defiance of convention for love makes her the emotional center of Trollope's most stubbornly romantic tale.

## Who they are

Mally Trenglos stands apart in her Cornish community, a young woman whose loyalties and desires run against the grain of respectable expectation. Her determination to choose for herself creates the central tension of the story, pitting personal feeling against the judgments of family and neighbors. She matters because her struggle gives the early and middle arc its moral weight, asking what love is worth when it costs a woman her place in the world.
