## Who they are

Tobermory has spent years as a silent witness to the drawing-room conversations of his betters, and when he begins to talk he shows no inclination to protect anyone's feelings. His talent is genuine, his memory is excellent, and his sense of tact is nonexistent, which makes him the most dangerous guest at the weekend party. He matters because he turns the ordinary social gathering into a reckoning, and because his owners must decide what to do with a pet who knows too much.
