> Thomas Gilchrist in Short Fiction by Poul Anderson.

**Role:** supporting

**Also known as:** Gilchrist, Tom

**First appearance:** 0000-star-ship

## Snapshot

Thomas Gilchrist is a name that surfaces in the tense negotiations and firefights around Dalgetty, a presence whose loyalties the story keeps testing.

## Who they are

Gilchrist moves through the same dangerous circles as Dalgetty and the Bancroft faction, where guns are drawn and alliances shift in a heartbeat. His position is ambiguous enough that every scene he touches carries the question of whose side he is really on. That uncertainty sharpens the early stakes, making the reader watch him as closely as the conspirators do.
