> Peter Sherikov in Short Fiction by Philip K. Dick.

**Role:** supporting

**Also known as:** Sherikov, Pete

**First appearance:** 0003-the-defenders

## Snapshot

Bearded director of the Ural Military Designs labs, an unapologetic individualist who builds weapons for a state he refuses to belong to.

## Who they are

Sherikov runs the vast research network under the Ural Mountains, where Terra's last hope against Centaurus is being assembled piece by piece. He bristles at Reinhart's political supervision, meeting the Council man's demands with open sarcasm and stubborn independence, yet he is too valuable to be coerced. His prized project, the squat cone called Icarus, is the reason Reinhart has come — and the reason their mutual dislike must be swallowed.
